Del Taco Celebrates Cinco de Mayo With 2nd Annual Epic Burrito Challenge

Our very first Del Taco Epic Burrito Challenge was a huge hit last year, so we’re bringing it back to celebrate Cinco de Mayo again this year!

The event will begin promptly at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5. New this year is we’re expanding the contest to all six metro Detroit Del Taco locations. Those interested in participating in the Epic Burrito Challenge can register at any of the following Del Taco locations from 10-11 a.m. on May 5:

1120 W. 14 Mile Road – Clawson

5644 N. Telegraph – Dearborn Heights

13201 Middlebelt Rd. – Livonia

32439 Gratiot – Roseville

26111 Hoover – Warren

28692 Dequindre Unit J 100 – Warren

Each restaurant will accept up to 10 participants, who will be challenged to eat two of Del Taco’s one-pound Epic Burritos within 15 minutes. The first individual at each restaurant who eats the two Epic Burritos, or those who eat the most within 15 minutes, will receive one free Del Taco Epic Burrito per week for a year! The second finishers will receive a catering package for up to 20 people from Del Taco, while all third place finishers will receive one free meal of their choice.

Recognized for its made-to-order menu items created with freshly prepared ingredients at an unbelievable value, Del Taco’s Epic Burritos do not disappoint. Varieties include:

  • Epic Fajita Burrito: Inspired by a sizzling fajita platter, this meal includes freshly-grilled chicken or steak, a blend of roasted vegetables, pinto beans slow-cooked from scratch throughout the day, cotija cheese, lime rice, black beans, sour cream and guacamole.
  • Epic Steak & Potato Burrito: Featuring freshly-grilled carne asada steak, Del Taco’s famous Crinkle-Cut fries, chipotle sauce, bacon, freshly-grated cheddar cheese and sour cream.
  • Epic Chicken Chipotle Ranch Burrito: This entrée includes marinated chicken grilled fresh in each Del Taco restaurant all day along with lime rice, chipotle and ranch sauces, bacon, freshly-grated cheddar cheese, crisp lettuce, guacamole and hand-made pico de gallo salsa.
  • Epic Cali Steak & Guacamole Burrito: This entrée combines all your favorite California tastes into one incredible burrito. Our juicy carne asada steak and tangy guacamole are nestled within our world famous crinkle cut fries, cool sour cream and handmade pico de gallo.

In addition to the Epic Burrito Challenge, Del Taco will be offering tacos for $.49 cents on Cinco de Mayo from 3 p.m.-8 p.m.
