MOD Pizza’s Spreading MODness Campaign Aims to End Hunger in Michigan
TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR) and our 11 metro Detroit MOD Pizza restaurants, are teaming up with Generosity Feeds for its annual Spreading MODness campaign.
The holiday season is a time for serving others—and at MOD, we make pizza to serve people, we call it Spreading MODness. We recognize the need for access to nutritious meals all year long, and we’re so excited to partner with Generosity Feeds to help make a positive and lasting impact in the communities we serve. We’re looking forward to welcoming guests into our restaurants to raise money together to end hunger in our community.
During the week-long Spreading MODness initiative, all of TSFR’s 11 Michigan MOD Pizza restaurants will donate $1 for every pizza sold from November 20-24 to Generosity Feeds, an organization working to feed hungry children in every county across America. With a goal to raise $12,000, MOD and Generosity Feeds will use the money raised to package 12,000 unique, nutritious meals that are compact and light enough for kids to carry home in their backpacks.
Last year, Spreading MODness raised $10,750 in Michigan which, with the help of community volunteers, generated 10,750 meals at a local meal-packing event. Building off of the success of last year’s meal-packing event, MOD and Generosity Feeds will welcome hundreds of volunteers from the surrounding communities to facilitate another meal-packing event at Davidson Middle School in Southgate, Michigan on March 9, 2019. More information on volunteer opportunities and to sign-up can be found here.
We’re excited to be setting the bar high for this year’s fundraiser and meal-packing event. All meals will remain in our community, where 2-out-of-3 children struggle with hunger – one of the highest statistics in the country. MOD is committed to making a difference and, this year we hope to exceed our goal of 12,000 meals.
“Like any of us, children struggle when they’re hungry. And yet, one in six children in America don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Because lack of food messes up the brain and prevents children from learning, it is more important than ever to provide hungry children with proper nutrition,” said Ron Klabunde, founder and CEO of Generosity Feeds. “MOD is setting the standard for maximizing business as a force for good. It is our hope that this is the beginning of ending the poverty cycle for generations to come.”
